My name is Nick Firth and it is with great pride that I introduce to you the new home of my guitar lessons: Guitar Lessons Online UK.
Having taught the guitar for 20 years, I feel that this project has been every one of those 20 years in the making as I hope for it not only to fulfil the ambitions of my students as musicians, but to also fulfil my own ambition in finding the ultimate solution to helping aspiring guitarists unlock their potential and realise their dreams in the clearest, most enjoyable and affordable way possible.
Over the last 20 years I have been privileged to have taught guitar in over 30 schools across Birmingham, giving lessons on a one-to-one basis to groups of 60 at a time. I have delivered, and continue to deliver, weekly songwriting workshops to teenagers and young adults across Coventry and Warwickshire and through this I have had the honour of working with some extraordinarily talented young writers that never cease to inspire me.
As a performing musician I have been lucky enough to have worked with some of the finest musicians in the country and have toured the most beautiful theatres and concert venues across England, Scotland and parts of Europe with various different shows.
It is with no hesitation I can say that I truly love my job. I certainly don’t lay claim to be the greatest guitarist that ever lived, but what has kept me in employment over the years is my versatility in adapting to every role, artist or student and it is this adaptability that I pride myself on in my teaching.
Over the last 20 years, in every teaching and performing situation, I have found myself returning to the same conclusion time and time again that the guitar is a different instrument for every genre in which it is being played. What at first may appear to be a somewhat daunting philosophy, implying a necessity to learn the equivalent of half a dozen different instruments, should instead be met with excitement that anything is possible on the guitar and even more excitingly that the guitar is possible for anyone.
The guitar could be seen as one of the most complicated, if not the most complicated of instruments -but it doesn’t need to be. The guitar can be as simple or as complicated as you want it to be based on where you want it take you and how it fits into your life and around your priorities.
Whatever level you study at, from beginner to Beethoven, at Online Guitar Lessons UK there is but one rule: that you must enjoy your playing and it is my duty to ensure that always be the case.
